Lists

Selecting a menu item in the left-hand menu typically result in a list of some objects, e.g., process definitions, users, persons, etc., appearing in the working area. All lists are structured in the same way. A header that explains the content of the list is placed directly under the uppermost toolbar, a row with column headers is placed directly under the list header, and then follow rows that describe objects in the list. A page toolbar is shown at the bottom of the list. The page toolbar indicates the total number of pages in the list, as well as the number of the current page, and it includes buttons for browsing between the pages. It also includes a button for refreshing the current page. The content of the uppermost toolbar in the list depends on the nature of the objects shown in the list. Typical buttons are New(+), Delete (-), Show/Edit, Print (the list), Show Search.

Selecting Show search results in search conditions appear between the uppermost toolbar and the list itself. This area is called a filter. By filling the fields of the filter and pressing the Search button the user will get a filtered list that includes only objects that satisfied the search condition. The filter can be hidden by pressing the Hide Search button that appears instead of the Show search button. Hiding the filter does note remove the installed search conditions which are indicated by a filter icon (funnel) in the list header (to the left of the list name). To remove the filter, first press button Clear search, and then Search having filter visible. The filter, icon in the list header disappear, and you can safely hide the filter by pressing the Hide search button on the uppermost toolbar.

Some of the toolbar buttons, like Show/Edit have the currently selected row as the scope of application. You select the row by clicking on it with the mouse. Double click may also invoke an action that concerns the current row. In many cases, it is some action already represented by a button on the toolbar (default action). If there is only one row-related action, it may not be represented in the toolbar, then the only way to invoke this action is via double click.

The column header allows changing positions of columns by drag and dropping them. It also allows to sort by a column in descending or ascending order by clicking on a column or selecting a corresponding item from the option menu available when moving the mouse to the right corner of the column header. The same menu allows to hide/show columns from the list view.
